I Killed The DJ Video Shoot

Last Saturday we shot the music video for our second single "I Killed The DJ" The shoot went strangely really well which we were all suprised about.. At the begining of the week we were sitting round wondering "what are we going to be doing in this video?... Eek its this Sat!"

Thanks so much to everyone who cast in it.. Mon, Paris, Jordan, James, Lex, Wilde and all our crazy dancers! Also our Cameo from Clap Clap Riot Dave Rowlands!

We shot the video again with the genius director Adam Jones. This time we wanted something with more of a story line to it because of the nature of the song and all that..
Adam came up with this crazy idea that we would be sort of stuck in this parallel universal world of different pop cultures, we've kinda covered the general stereotypes which you'll see for yourself... Not pointing any fingers haha..

It was pure mayhem at the end we shot a scene with us smashing a few hundred records getting all a bit carried away...WE RULE!

Thanks again to everyone who was part of it, it should be hitting the tv waves real soon and the web.

For now though, heres some sneaky behind the scenes footage and a few photos.. if you go to our Facebook page we've upload a tonne of photos..

Recording Diary for I Killed The DJ

You can now view all of our video blogs on our Myspace blog page and our Blogspot page http://theearlybirdsblog.blogspot.comWe made these videos to bookmark our recent recording sessions so that you can get a sneaky behind the scenes view of what we get up to during recording. As you can see, not to much discarding our pranks on each other! We hope you enjoy the videos though, you can now hear the results of the session on our Myspace page.

I Killed the DJ is the second single which will soon be on the Airwaves and pestering your brain all day!

Runaway Video Blog and EMI

The Earlybirds are super excited to announce that they have been signed to EMI NZ! The debut single will be going to radio on tuesday, so listen out!

Also we recently shot our debut music video for Runaway directed by Adam Jones, this is his 50th music video! So were pretty stoked to have him working on it check out some of his videos, he's worked with Pluto, Howling Bells, Goldenhorse and Ladyhawke...

We shot it down in the old Victoria Cinema in Devonport where we rehearse. Its mostly focused on us playing but it also has parts from the early 1960's film Charade with Audrey Hepburn which are projected on us and other sorts of things..

Anyway... We're playing on MTV's Sweet Sixteen tonight wooo! It should be airing sometime in the near future....

RECORDING RUNAWAY

At last, we've completed the finnishing touches to our debut single, Runaway, and it is sounding massive, were very proud of it, it's taken us nearly 3 years to get to this point, no jokes...

Anyway, we tracked it at York St. studio in Parnell, with Greg Haver producing and Clint Murphy engineering. York St is a pretty cool little studio, it had heaps of vintage gear which we used or tried to, an amazing coffee machine and a Pinball machine!

All were waiting for now is for the grand master recording to come back to us, which is getting mastered at Sterling sound in New York by Greg Calbi who's mastered bands like MGMT, Interpol, Modest Mouse, Kings of Leon etc so were pretty stoked to have someone like that working with the single, not to mention Greg and Clint who have a pretty intense record of artist they've worked with

Hopefully you will be able to catch a preview of the single on our Myspace and Facebook etc... in the next few weeks...

Michael.
